Determine cloud and pour point of given sample of oil.

Determine cloud and pour point of given sample of oil. THEORY: - 1. CLOUD POINT:- It is the temperature in a standardized test at which cloudiness develops due to separation of wax. At this temperature solid matter begins to crystallize out and separate out. The cloud point occurs at higher temperature than the pour point. 2. POUR POINT:- It is the temperature at which the oil will stop to flow then cooled under specified conditions. Lubricating oils which are mixture of various hydro carbons, behave like a portion of their constituents before the whole mixture solidifies upon cooling. The setting point of oil will therefore temperature at which solid matter commences to separate or the temperature at which the oil completely loses its fluidity. Oil containing paraffin’s temperature at which separation of solid paraffin is observed to commence is recorded as cloud point for mineral oil which contain no paraffin’s the separation can not be seen up on cooling of this oil.

Determine absolute viscosity of diesel fuel using u- tube viscometer

Determine absolute viscosity of diesel fuel using u- tube viscometer Kinematic viscosity is absolute units. The determination is made in a U- Tube viscometer as illustrated in figure. Five tubes, numbered from 0 to 4, are specified and their dimensions are given. The ranges covered are: No. 0-0.5 to 2.0, No. 1-1.5 to 6.0, No. 2-5.4 to 43, No. 3-32 to 260 and No. 4-190 to 1500 centistokes respectively.

Service Catalytic converter

Service Catalytic converter Catalytic Converter: - The catalytic converter converts harmful pollutants in the exhaust gas into harmless gases. It is located in the exhaust system and all exhaust must flow through it.The catalyst is a material in the catalytic converter that causes a chemical change without being a part of the chemical reaction. A catalytic converter may have two different catalysts. One treats the HC and CO.

Test Spark timing control system

Test Spark timing control system In a gasoline engine, the air fuel mixture is ignited to cause combustion, and the force that is generated by the expansion causes the position of piston to push downwards. Therefore, Ignition takes place in advance so that enable the engine to generate the maximum combustion every moment depending on the operating conditions of the engine. SO, The timing that enables engine to generate an explosive force in the force in the most efficient manner in accordance with the operating condition.

Demonstrate automobile bulbs and lights.

Demonstrate automobile bulbs and lights. BULBS Joseph Swan in the UK demonstrated the first light bulb in 1878. Much incremental development has taken place since that time. The number, shape and size of bulbs used on vehicles is increasing all the time. Figure shows a common selection. Most bulbs for vehicle lighting are generally either conventional tungsten filament bulbs or tungsten halogen.

Service Positive Crankcase ventilation system

Service Positive Crankcase ventilation system Filtered Air from the air cleaner is drawn through the crankcase by the intake manifold vacuum. The air picks up the blow-by gas or vapor and carries them to the intake manifold. The vapors then flow through the intake manifold to the combustion chambers. There the unburned fuel burns during normal combustion.

Demonstrate construction and working of different types of starter, motor, its drive and switches

Demonstrate construction and working of different types of starter, motor, its drive and switches. INTRODUCTION The Internal combustion engines are not self starting and need to be rotated at a certain minimum speed in for the engine to commence running by the fuel supply. This is the function of the starting motor.

Demonstrate working principle of A.C. generator and its regulators.

Demonstrate working principle of A.C. generator and its regulators. INTRODUCTION The alternator or A.C. Generator is the generator which produces alternating current instead of the direct current as produced by a commutator type generator. This has replaced D.C. generator since early 1960's because of its distinct advantages. However, as the automotive electrical system requires only direct current, the alternating current produced in the a.c. generator has to be converted first into the direct current, which is easily done with the help of diodes.

Demonstrate cable size, colour code, wiring and symbols used in auto wiring.

Demonstrate cable size, colour code, wiring and symbols used in auto wiring. OBJECTIVE To acquire detailed knowledge about cable size, their colour codes, wiring and different symbols. INTRODUCTION The wiring of present day automobiles has become quite complex because of a number of additional electrical equipment and accessories. However, with the use of coloured cables, wiring harness, plastic fibre optics, printed circuits and improved cable connections, wiring installation has been simplified as possible.

Demonstrate construction and working of different types of ignition systems

Demonstrate construction and working of different types of ignition systems INTRODUCTION The spark ignition engines require some device to ignite the compressed air-fuel mixture inside the cylinder at the end of the compression stroke. Ignition system serves this purpose. It is a part of electrical system which carries the electrical current to spark plug which g ives park to ignite the air-fuel mixture at the correct time. The ignition system consists of a battery, switch, ignition distributor, ignition coil, spark plugs and necessary wiring . Some systems use transistors to reduce the load on the distributor contact points. Other systems use a combination of transistors and a magnetic pick-up in the distributor.

Demonstrate construction of various electrical accessories

Demonstrate construction of various electrical accessories e.g. horn, wiper & flashers etc. HORN Horn is a sound creating device. Electrical horns are used in all the automobile vehicles. When the horn is operated it creates loud vibrating sound indicating that vehicle is coming so that the passengers or the other slow moving vehicles may clear off the path to pass it. Horn is also used as a calling well to call the persons when the vehicle is ready to start. Lights, breaks and horns are the devices that prevent accident. Light flashes the road, horn makes the road clear and breaks stop the vehicle, all the three devices make the driv ing safe from accident.

To study about the lubricating system its additives, components

To study about the lubricating system its additives, components OBJECTIVES:- To get knowledge about the lubricating system its additives, components. INTRODUCTION:- Lubrication system is used in the engine to run the engine by keeping wear proof, and working it without getting over heat, and keep the parts smooth and easily movable. An Automatic Lubrication System, often referred to as a Centralized Lubrication System, generally comprises a controller or timer, a pump and reservoir, metering valves and fittings and supply and feed lines.

Demonstrate working of two stroke S.I. engines, four stroke SI engine and C.I. engines.

AIM : Demonstrate working of two stroke S.I. engines, four stroke SI engine and C.I. engines. 2- Stroke Engine: The two stroke engine is a reciprocating engine in which the piston does two time movement ( i.e. TDC to BDC and BDC to TDC ) to produce a power stroke Upward stroke: During upward stroke, the piston moves from BDC to TDC and compresses the charge (air-fuel mixture) in the combustion chamber of the cylinder. Because of the upward movement of the piston a partial vacuum is created in the crankcase and this allows the entry of the fresh charge into the crankcase through uncovered inlet port. The exhaust port and the inlet port remains covered when the piston at the TDC. The ignition of the fresh charge is takes place by the spark plug. Downward stroke: As soon as the combustion of the fresh charge takes place, a large amount of the hot gases is produced which exerts a very high pressure force on the top of the piston. Due to this high pressure force, the p

Test an automobile battery for its serviceability. OBJECTIVE The objective of this practical is to perform different test on battery. By this practical student get knowledge about testing, maintenance & its service. INTRODUCTION The battery is the heart of the automobile electrical system. The battery serve to store electric energy when there is little or no damage for current acts a secondary source of a electrical when the engine is hot running alternatively to meet full requirement of the load on the system. A wide range of batteries varying from 5 to 200hr. Capacity is necessary to meet the requirement of motor industries.
