The number, shape and size of bulbs used on vehicles is increasing all the time. Figure shows a common selection. Most bulbs for vehicle lighting are generally either conventional tungsten filament bulbs or tungsten halogen.

Demonstrate construction and working of different types of starter, motor, its drive and switches. INTRODUCTION The Internal combustion engines are not self starting and need to be rotated at a certain minimum speed in for the engine to commence running by the fuel supply. This is the function of the starting motor.

Demonstrate working principle of A.C. generator and its regulators. INTRODUCTION The alternator or A.C. Generator is the generator which produces alternating current instead of the direct current as produced by a commutator type generator. This has replaced D.C. generator since early 1960's because of its distinct advantages. However, as the automotive electrical system requires only direct current, the alternating current produced in the a.c. generator has to be converted first into the direct current, which is easily done with the help of diodes.

Demonstrate construction and working of different types of ignition systems INTRODUCTION The spark ignition engines require some device to ignite the compressed air-fuel mixture inside the cylinder at the end of the compression stroke. Ignition system serves this purpose. It is a part of electrical system which carries the electrical current to spark plug which g ives park to ignite the air-fuel mixture at the correct time. The ignition system consists of a battery, switch, ignition distributor, ignition coil, spark plugs and necessary wiring . Some systems use transistors to reduce the load on the distributor contact points. Other systems use a combination of transistors and a magnetic pick-up in the distributor.

Demonstrate construction of various electrical accessories e.g. horn, wiper & flashers etc. HORN Horn is a sound creating device. Electrical horns are used in all the automobile vehicles. When the horn is operated it creates loud vibrating sound indicating that vehicle is coming so that the passengers or the other slow moving vehicles may clear off the path to pass it. Horn is also used as a calling well to call the persons when the vehicle is ready to start. Lights, breaks and horns are the devices that prevent accident. Light flashes the road, horn makes the road clear and breaks stop the vehicle, all the three devices make the driv ing safe from accident.
